Nearly everyone will go through some form of hair removal in their lifetime. There are many forms of hair removal available, some are temporary, some provide other bonus benefits, and others offer permanent relief. If you are looking for a hair removal treatment that doesn’t cause trauma to the skin like waxing, plucking, and threading, then keep reading to find out what Skin & Laser can offer.
Alkaline Hair removal
Using the science of the pH scale, this unique treatment softens and swells proteins. This means it dissolves any unwanted hair (all the way down the hair follicle), as well as giving the skin a light exfoliation. This hair removal treatment can last up to 12 weeks and will slow the growth rate over time. In comparison to the old-school dilatory creams, there are no harsh chemicals so there is little chance of irritation or allergic reaction. Alkaline can be used anywhere on the body, but we particularly love it for blonde, fluffy facial hair.
Epi-blading
A hair removal treatment loved by many celebrities. After cleansing the skin, a small, disposable scalpel is lightly moved over the skin at a slight angle to remove unwanted facial hair. This treatment also provides a nice exfoliation without irritation. Because epi-blading is working on the surface of the skin, the results usually last 4-6 weeks.
Laser hair removal
The holy grail of hair removal. Generally speaking, laser technology uses a light which is converted into energy in the skin. This light is seeking out melanin in the skin, which is how we are able to selectively target the hair. This means that we need to have some form of colour in the hair (Alkaline and epi-blading are best for blonde, dark red and white hairs) for the laser to target them. Older hair removal technologies meant we are unable to treat people with a naturally tanned skin, however, at Skin & Laser we can treat these clients effectively due to the technologies we use. Due to the laser looking for colour in the skin, it is important to remain out of the sun for 4 weeks before and after a laser treatment. This ensures that the natural colour of your skin is as light as possible to avoid the laser targeting your skin instead of your hair. This avoids any unwanted side effects (you don’t want to end up with burns ‘down there’). At our clinic most clients will need between 6-8 treatments and coming in every 4 weeks for the face and 6 weeks on the body. The timing of laser is crucial, the laser is only able to effectively stop the growth of hairs in one stage of hair growth (there are 3), roughly 20% of hairs in any area in one session. Clients who don’t come regularly will generally need more sessions in the end. The new era of laser machines ensures a safe and comfortable treatment. Gone of the days of extremely painful and slow IPL hair removal.
At Skin & Laser we pride ourselves on investing in the highest quality equipment, and more importantly, highly trained staff with certified qualifications. This ensures you have a safe and effective treatment.
